Back Again...

Hi all, so after a very long break and a lot of changes Ive decided to start writing again. Im currently living and working in Manchester for a homewares design company, whilst also creating my own work on the side. I found out a few months ago that I had been accepted to exhibit at the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in Manchester. I was over the moon to find out I had been accepted and have been enjoying creating new work and attending workshops for the last few months to learn how to make and finish homeware products to a higher standard. I can't wait to post more about my work and blabber on about design...in the meantime heres a link to my profile on the GNCCF site!

Write Me...

So after a few hours, a small amount of stressing and YouTube tutorials, I have managed to make my own Notebooks from scratch after designing the prints a few weeks ago. I was originally going to cover pre-bought notepads, but after watching a tutorial I decided to give it a go and it was actually pretty easy to make them. Im really pleased with the finished results and im planning on making lots more soon, along with my lampshades!

Browsing...

Today after a full morning of doing nothing and then a full afternoon of waiting on at a funeral I needed some serious uplifting! Ive just been updating my Pinterest account, which I haven't touched in months! I forgot how fun it was just re-pinning beauts pictures and storing them in a little space of your very own to re-use (when you remember you've got them!)
After a few hours of endlessly browsing the web I found this beauts site. Pattern jots is full of beautiful scribbly loveliness! Im loving the colours and shapes that artist Maike Thoma uses! My favorites are her Keka Cases!
Check them out on her website store...

Pretty Patterns...

So today after spending several hours in front of the computer drinking hot ribeena and thinking about nothing but food, jobs and what to do tonight, I decided to do something creative for a few hours so I didn't end up completely brain dead!
A few months ago I started a pastel themed collection, but never finished it. I wanted to keep within my English countryside theme and throw in a few geometric shapes too, so after a few hours playing with colours and shapes and a bit of Photoshop magic I ended up with these! I really like the collection. I feel with some pastel collections the colours can get a bit too 'girl in a candy shop,' but I think by adding that element of natural mustard Ive managed to avoid a sickly sweet combo.
Take a look...

Keka Case...

Keka Case are a design company based in San Fransisco. Keka, have one of the largest communities of licensed surface pattern and fashion. Their hand-picked designers create prints and patterns for smart device cases. The design base is huge and includes a range of artists and designers, including graduates, designer makers and high end fashion houses, such as Vivienne Westwood and Oscar de la Renta.
Keka contacted me months ago about designing a range of cases for smart products, but to tell you the truth, Ive been so busy with work and interviews etc, its taken me forever to complete anything recently! But I now have a profile on their site and am very excited to develop my own range of new and old designs to sell on their smart products! Watch this space...

Happy New Year Cry Baby Sissy Pants...

Happy New Year! So Ive decided that this year will be the year that I actually succeed in design and life in general. No more cry baby sissy pants in the corner please. Thankyou.
So Ive recently been doing a lot of nothing. As everybody does over the Christmas period. My mamma and father bought me a lush book as one of my Christmas presents last year. The book, 'Print Pattern 2' and is basically a collection of all the images and art work that is displayed of one of my fave artsy blogs 'Print & Pattern.' Check it out, its very inspirational!
So last night I was having a gander and got realy inspired to start making my own lampshades again. I made a few during my University final project, (see previous posts) but I always felt quite restricted with how many I could make because of difference in style, costs, time etc. So after doing a bit of research and finding this gawj lampshade stack by Rachel Taylor Ive set myself a challenge...To make my very own lampshade stack! Some of my own design, some new, some old, some just covered in nice fabric that i find when out and about.
So wish me luck and I'll keep you updated!

Childrens Prints...

My friend recently had a beautiful little baby girl, which has done two things to me.
One, made me very broody, which is never good when your single and 21.
And Two, help me find me a new found love for all things baby. After shopping around for baby grows, changing bags, prams and blankets, Ive fallen in love with all the gawj baby prints and the silly amount of teenie tiny baby clothes, that you simply just MUST buy. 'Joules' baby have some absolutely stunning prints and the colours are too beautiful.

I decided to do a bit more research into the interior side of things and had a go at making my own Personalized baby print. At uni I created a range of animal prints, but never actually developed them further, so I thought now was the perfect time to use them! I had a look at stores online and took inspiration from prints id seen on 'Etsy' and 'Notonthehighstreet.com.' I used a basic color palette to start with, but im pretty pleased with the results and have had a few people emailing me with orders already...

Unframed Print £22, Framed £30. Please email devadaisy@hotmail.co.uk for personalized orders.
